Tony isn't eating at preschool
Stolen Food
Jenny was annoyed by something the preschool told her about Tony. Apparently, he doesn't eat the food his mother packs for him. Some other kid has been stealing it, and Tony hasn't said anything about it, not one whiff of a protest.
Thank You!
Tony said "Thank you!" to me yesterday after I did him a nice turn. As I reported, he said "Xie xie!" to his mother, the day before yesterday, after she gave him a cookie.

Wuxi Tony Update #561
Finally, I have uploaded a video to Youtube. I hope you can see it. If you can't, go here.
Tony makes history Monday Evening
Tony asking for a cookie becomes Moment for the Ages
You can talk about Lincoln freeing the slaves, Alex the Great doing all that conquering, Napoleon going to Moscow, and whatever it was that Genghis whats-his-name-did-with-his-hordes. I don't give a tinker's tuss! You may, but that just goes to show ya! Tony did something much more important last night.
He asked his mother for a cookie which Jenny, in all her wonderful loving kindness, gave to him. And then he said something.....
Sickos may ask if he said ******! or @@@@@! or %&&&&#&#! He didn't.
Australians may think he said "@@@@@&@##@#@#@## ##$$%$%#%!" He didn't say that either.
What Tony did say, to his mom, when he received the cookie was "Xie Xie!" which is Chinese for "Thank You!". What a good little boy!
And what a simple way to make history. The small things in life can be the biggest milestones. Manners are never a thing to be taken for granted.

An Experiment
Mickey Mouse in Spanish
Tony has got Mickey Mouse on the brain as the expression goes. He just can't get enough of it. And he begs so much for it, that he can pronounce the words "Mickey Mouse" quite properly, which gets me to thinking. What if he watches Double M in Spanish? Could he pick up on some Spanish too? Spanish always sounds cool to me, even though the methods of social organization of Spanish people leave something to be desired. Having a kid that could speak Spanish seems a cool idea.
And it just so happened that last night when I, at Tony's beckoning, put the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD into the player, the menu showed it had a Spanish audio option. I choose it and hoped for the best. But Tony seemed puzzled and was hoping to use the English vocabulary he had picked up from the MM shows already.
So much for that idea.

The Tony -- Tumbly-Bo Reunion
Friday, as I may have mentioned in an earlier entry, Tony took his favourite doll Tumbly-Bo downtown with him before leaving it at the KFC restaurant so he could go to the playground there. I then put Tumbly-Bo in my backpack and kept it there the rest of the day.
Later in the afternoon, my wife phoned asking if I had the doll -- she had come to the preschool to pick up Tony. Jenny later told me that she had asked Tony about the doll. The mere mention of Tumbly-Bo seemed to stop Tony in his tracks -- he had been wanting his mother to pick him up, but then hearing his doll's name putting him in a contemplative mood.
I returned home from work late in the evening with Tumbly-Bo in my bag. At the apartment entrance, I pulled out the doll and Tony immediately ran over, giving the doll a big hug, and jumping up and down with tremendous excitement.
Wuxi, China Expat baby becomes a Buddhist?
Is my son Tony a Buddhist? Watch Wuxi Tony Update #565 and judge for yourself. The video is the last taken on our trip to Yang Shan Peach Blossom Park in Wuxi, China.
Darn it!!
I was all set to upload some topical photos to my blogs here at the office, but I left the camera cradle at home.
What's Tony doing now?
It is 340 pm, Friday afternoon, I sit in my office. I had a class at one pm -- that is done and I have farted about on the Internet.
I look at the family photo on my desk. I then look at a photo given to me by a student of Tony sitting on my shoulders. I wonder how he is doing at the preschool. I hope he is sleeping or being trouble to the other children. He he.

Tony and his doll
Friday morning, Tony insisted on taking his doll with him. My wife Jenny says the doll's name is Tumbly-Bo; Tony calls it Double-U.
So on the bus on to preschool, Tony had his doll with him. He only let go it when I took him to the KFC and its' playground. Tumbly-Bo is now in my bad with me. Tony won't see it till I return home late Friday evening.
