Waterfall!

When Tony was upset on Tuesday morning, he kept saying "Waterfall!".

 

When Tony said "waterfall", he meant fountain.  The fountain he was referring to was outside a building in which there was a playground that Tony had played at for entire afternoons.

 

So, Tuesday, Tony wanted to go there instead of kindergarten.

 

Not that I blame him!

Tony's Father!

I have become like a Chinese parent waiting, outside the school gate, for my child to come.  Tuesday, waiting outside, I caught a glimpse of Tony at the front of a conga line of what must have been his classmates; and so I walked through the gate to catch his eye.  One of the workers saw me do this and she said "Tony's Father!  Tony will be out in five minutes!".  She didn't see that Tony was right behind her.

 

I have noticed, as has my wife, that the people running the school are very touchy about security even to the point of separating parents from their children.

Dad takes Tony to Preschool and then picks him up later

Dad took Tony to the preschool Monday morning -- the first time for him to go to Tony's new preschool location.  This location is much more convenient, since it is only a ten minute electric bike ride away from Casa K -- unlike the old which involved a forty minute bus ride.

 

Tony cried when dropped off -- maybe being separated from his father upset him.

 

Tony was also upset when his father came to pick him up in the afternoon.  Perhaps he was upset being pulled from the classroom and not knowing what was to happen next.

 

What did happen next was the Andis took Tony to a nearby bridge to look at boat traffic.  They then went to a nearby park so Tony could throw rocks into a canal.

Tony has the Thomas the Tank Engine Toy in his hands.

Tony's father had a very rare Saturday night out.

When Andis arrived home, he was grateful to see Tony still playing with the Thomas Toy that had been brought to him on Friday evening.

Tony's father arrived home late on Friday evening, but Tony was at the door to greet him when he did.  Andis had purchased a Thomas the Tank Engine toy for Tony.  Andis immediately gave the toy to Tony who said 'thank you!' when he received.  The toy generated a little controversy with Tony's mother because she thought it was too expensive.  Andis, however, had been determined to get Tony the toy because Tony had been pining for a Thomas toy for the last month.

Tony played with the toy all the rest of the evening till he fell asleep.  When he woke up on Saturday, he immediately played with it.  So happy was Tony with the toy that he actually kissed it.

Andis also put some new MP3s on his mobile phone and played them for Tony.  One song, The Last of International Playboys by Morrissey, was a particular favorite of Tony -- he listened to it over and over again.  When Andis tried to play another song -- Tony became upset.  Andis could only shut off the MP3 player after Tony fell asleep.

Off he goes...

to kindergarten, just now.  Tony's father hates the days Thursday and Friday because he doesn't get to see much of his son.

Bugs Bite Tony...

But not his father or mother.  Why?  

He must have more tender meat.

As far as his father can ascertain, Tony had a good first day at the kindergarten.  He supposedly learned how to answer the question "What's your name?", but when his father asked him the question in the evening, he just made a big face.

He later said "Wash your face!".

His father told to a local parent whose son was 40 months old (Tony is 36) but wasn't in kindergarten.

He seemed happy to be there unlike the other kids who were freaking out -- some even vomiting.

 

But then he started to cry when his parents were about to leave.
